New off-licence and convenience store to open in Burnham High Street

A prominent former electrical shop in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea has this week moved a step closer to being transformed into a new off-licence and convenience store.

Sedgemoor District Council has granted a new premises licence to Shreeji Enterprises to transform the former Central Radio Services at 58 The High Street.

The firm's licence application is for a new "convenience store and off-licence" selling alcohol from 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.

Claire Faun, a spokeswoman for Sedgemoor District Council's licensing unit, told "The licence application has been fully considered for the new shop - likely to be called 'Bargain Booze' - and no issues were raised." first reported on the plans here soon after Central Radio Services closed in the autumn after more than 70 years of business. Its owner said that competition from Internet shopping sites was to blame for the closure.
