Burnham-On-Sea fundraisers complete colourful Rainbow Run!

-

A group of fundraisers from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge took part in a colourful fundraising event during their year of fitness challenges on Sunday (May 19th).

Nicola Noad and Tamara Ellis made a new year’s resolution to get healthy and have in turn come up with their very own project called Challenge 12.

Nicola, from Sparks Way in Highbridge and Tamara, from Highbridge Road in Burnham, have decided to take on 12 challenges in 12 months, to help 12 charities and raise their target of £1,200 which they have already beaten with £1,500 raised so far.

On Sunday they completed the 5km Rainbow Run in Bristol on The Downs for the Children’s Hospice South West.

“It was great fun – if a bit messy!” Nicola told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “You get showered with chalk paints while you run. It was excellent fun and there was a great atmosphere.”

Other challenges still to do are the Race for Life, Mendip Challenge, 18 Mile Walk, Strawberry Jam Cycle, Brean 14, London ‘Shine’, Monster Race, 24hr Bikathon and Christmas Fancy Dress Run.

They are raising money for Weston Hospicecare, Secret World Wildlife Rescue centre in East Huntspill, the RNLI, Weston’s Freewheelers and Children’s Hospice South West. Other groups benefiting will be Save the Children, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Cancer UK, Meningitis UK, Sport Relief, Alice Escapes and a charity which is currently being set up called Bottle Stop.
