Capacity audience for Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society concert

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church was filled with festive music when the town’s Choral Society held its annual Christmas concert.

Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society performed in front of a full-capacity audience, who were treated to an impressive line-up of music.

The concert was led by new musical director Nicholas Bromilow, who delighted the audience his personal thoughts about each piece of music during the evening. One audience member said “the conductor was super” and another added that he “brought the best out of the choir.”

The evening included carols played by the King Alfred Youth Band.

As well as traditional carols, the choir sang popular Christmas pieces from The Messiah and there was extended applause after The Hallelujah Chorus. As it is the centenary year for Benjamin Britten, the choir’s ladies sang three songs from The Ceremony of Carols.

The concert finished with a prize rafle, with donations of prizes from local businesses.

“The Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society would like to thank the Co-op Funeralcare for supporting this concert and the businesses who gave raffle prizes. Last but not least, the audience and friends who continue to support us. Without this we would not be able to continue putting on quality concerts,” said spokesperson Julie Skinner.

The next concert for the group will be its Spring Concert on Saturday 10th May at Highbridge’s St John’s Church.
