New owner takes over seafront hotel in Burnham-On-Sea

-

A well-known seafront hotel in Burnham-On-Sea is under new ownership this week.

Local entrepreneur Paul Chatwin has taken over The Royal Clarence at 31 The Esplanade.

Paul told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “My wife and I are very pleased to have taken over The Royal Clarence Hotel. The hotel is an iconic part of Burnham’s seafront and has the potential to regain its place as the top accommodation choice within the town.”

The couple have introduced a number of changes at the property.

Paul added: “We have developed a new website and The Royal Clarence now takes its own online bookings for the first time. Room rates have been reduced by an average of 20% on last year’s prices; and we have added a discounted advance saver rate.”

“To offer the best choice to business travelers and holiday-makers on a budget, we offer our 15 en-suite bedrooms on a room-only basis, with the option of adding a breakfast. Traditional holiday styles have changed and, for the first time, The Royal Clarence Hotel is changing with them.”

“New duvets and pillows have been added to our guest rooms and we have upgraded the bed linen and towels throughout the hotel. Further room refurbishments are ongoing and we are about to renovate the two holiday flats as well. We haven’t forgotten our lounge bar either, which has received a refurbishment this week.”

The Royal Clarence Hotel is one of Burnham’s oldest seafront buildings with a long history. It was the birthplace of the RCH Brewery, which is now based in Hewish. More details about The Royal Clarence are available here.
