Cow rescued from riverbank by fire crews near Burnham-On-Sea

Firefighters were called to rescue a cow stuck on a riverbank near Burnham-On-Sea yesterday evening (Thursday).

The Fire Service received a call reporting a cow stuck on a tidal mud bank at Ham Lane in Pawlett at 9.15pm.

One fire appliance and the specialist rescue team with an off road vehicle from Bridgwater attended.

Fire crews requested further information regarding tide times before releasing one heavy and exhausted cow from the river using rescue lines. Fire crews led the cow to drier ground.

The Maritime Coastguard Agency and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were also made aware of the incident.
