A motorist was taken to hospital after this car plunged into a water-filled ditch near Burnham-On-Sea in the early hours of Friday.

Fire, police and ambulance crews from Burnham were sent to the A370 at Lympsham shortly before 6am where the Ford Fiesta had left the road and ended on its side, as pictured here.

An ambulance spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that one female patient in her 20s had been taken to Weston General Hospital with what were believed to be non-serious injuries.

Firefighters made the vehicle safe and left the incident in the hands of the police and ambulance service.
