Students from a Highbridge dance school are celebrating this week after scooping a top award at the Axbridge Carnival.

Movie mania was the theme of last weekend’s Axbridge Carnival and students from both the Highbridge studio and the Axbridge branch of Curtain Call wowed the judges as ‘Kids from Fame’ and were awarded first prize in the walking entries category.

“It was a wonderful occasion to cement relationships and make friends within the two branches!” said Patricia Ham, the Principal of Curtain Call.

“I am very proud and thank everyone who took part, especially the parents who supported us.”

“There were some wonderful entries with stiff competition, so winning the cup was a fantastic achievement. The atmosphere of the carnival and the celebrations afterwards with the funfair, burgers and candy floss was wonderful!”

Award-winning Curtain Call students are now practising a variety of Musical and dramatic numbers which will be performed in a fundraising concert for the Highbridge Festival on Saturday 5th October at Highbridge Community Centre.

They are also about to begin rehearsals for ‘Snow White & the Magnificent Seven’, the first ever school pantomime, which will be performed at The Princess on Saturday 14th December.

“As you can see, we have an exciting and jam-packed performance schedule this term and with our new teaching faculty offering a wide variety of dance and performing arts classes we can offer everything a budding performer could wish for!”
