Wildlife carers at Secret World near Burnham-On-Sea are this week looking after a deer which suffered head injuries after being struck by a car over the weekend.

The Roe deer, which has been named Ivy by staff at the wildlife care centre in East Huntspill, say the animal is recovering well after the accident on Sunday.

“Suffering from head trauma for the last four days, Ivy has been unable to stand but today we have seen real progress with two of our team of staff helping Ivy to stand,” a spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The deer is one of many that are brought into the centre as a result of road traffic accidents each year and which require care.”
