Highbridge fuel thefts prompt warning to motorists in the area

Police are warning motorists in the Burnham-On-Sea area to make sure their fuel is secure following an increase in diesel theft.

In the past six weeks there have been several diesel thefts from businesses on industrial estates in the Highbridge, Taunton and Bridgwater areas.

In each case diesel has been stolen from either a vehicle fuel tank or a larger tank used to fill vehicles.

Two thefts of diesel from fuel tanks in Isleport Business Park in Highbridge in January and Feburary 2013.

"All the thefts are being investigated and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any of the crimes or saw people acting suspiciously in industrial estates," a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"We would also like to hear from anyone selling diesel at suspiciously low prices or in otherwise suspicious circumstances."

Anyone who might have information which can help the police should contact DC Becky Maddison on the non-emergency number 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
