Donkey leads Palm Sunday parade through Burnham-On-Sea

-

A donkey led a group of 80 Burnham-On-Sea residents on a traditional Easter parade through the town on Sunday (March 24th).

The annual Palm Sunday procession left St Andrew’s Church and wended its way along Victoria Street, before returning to the church along the seafront.

Members of St Andrew’s Church followed the donkey carrying Palm crosses and singing hymns. The church’s junior members also dressed in Biblical clothing.

Vicar Reverend Graham Witts told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Though it was a bitterly cold day I was so pleased to see such a large procession around the streets. It was a reminder that Jesus was not in a church but out where the people were.”

The church is now open daily throughout the coming months from 10am-4pm and we welcome anyone from the community to pop in and sit awhile.
