Flowers and cards laid on seafront to mark tragic Dylan’s birthday

-

Family and friends of Dylan Cecil, the toddler who died after falling into the sea in Burnham last summer, returned to the town’s seafront on Monday (April 29th) to mark what would have been the youngster’s birthday.

Flowers, balloons and cards were laid on a bench on The Esplanade at the top of the jetty to mark what would have been Dylan’s fifth birthday.

Dylan drowned after falling from Burnham’s jetty into Bridgwater Bay on August 19th last year, sparking a huge search operation by the town’s marine rescue services. His body was found washed up four days later.

An inquest was held in February into the tragedy when West Somerset’s coroner recorded an accidental verdict and absolved the parents of any blame.

A memorial fund has recently been launched to help raise money in memory of Dylan to benefit under-privileged children.
