New £80,000 games area to open in East Huntspill this month

-

A new £80,000 multi-use games area is set to open in East Huntspill later this month.

East Huntspill Parish Council secured funding for the new facilities from Sedgemoor District Council’s RLT3 funding from local property developers.

The brand new MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) has been built on the playing field and will be officially opened on Saturday 23rd March at 12.30pm.

The area around the MUGA has been landscaped with new equipment and paths, which are also opening at the same time.

Alongside traditional sports such as netball and basketball, the facilities offer unique activities such as ‘street snooker’.

Bruce Poole, Parish Clerk, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “In order to ensure a play area for all ages and all abilities the innovative games of Street Snooker and Street Pool are a welcome addition to this all-embracing play facility.”

“It can be used in all weathers by either one person as a casual play activity or indeed a group in an organised and competitive activity.”
