Residents will be able to meet several of the candidates running in May’s County Council elections in the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area this week.

The candidates in Burnham North and Highbridge & Burnham South have been invited to a ‘meet the candidates evening’ on Thursday (April 18th).

The informal event – supported by Burnham-On-Sea.com – will be held in the arts lounge at Burnham’s Princess Theatre at 7pm.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to meet the candidates and ask them questions about local issues and topics ahead of election day on May 2nd,” one of the organisers told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The candidates standing in Burnham North are Peter Burridge-Clayton (Con), Leander Clarke (Lab), Tom Nichols (Lib Dem) and James Robertson (Green).

In Highbridge and Burnham South, those running are Helen Groves (Lib Dem), Ricky Holcombe (Lab), David Taylor (Green), Purple Watkins (Ind) and John Woodman (Con).

In the Brent division, the candidates are John Denbee (Con), Sheila Forrester (Lab) and Katie Lawson (Lib Dem). And in Huntspill, Alexia Bartlett (Lab), John Everitt (UKIP), Mark Healy (Con) and Alan Miller (Lib Dem) will contest the seat.

Polling stations will be open between 7am-10pm on Thursday May 2nd 2013.
