A Christmas shopping evening is to be held in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday December 5th when shops across the town centre are set to stay open during an evening of festive entertainment.

Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade is organising the initiative to help independent traders across the town centre.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy festive music from local groups Curtain Call and the Mudlarks Community Choir in Victoria Street and the High Street.

Father Christmas will also be dropping by at the event, courtesy of Burnham Lions, who will also have their charity train on show.

A Chamber spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are keen to encourage shoppers into the town centre during the run-up to Christmas and this special event will bring a real festive feel to Burnham.”

“We hope that traders and local people will support the evening and give Burnham a boost during the busy Christmas shopping period.”

Traders wishing to join the event by opening late on the night until 8pm should contact Burnham’s Chamber of Trade by email here before November 25th so they can be promoted on the night.

Meanwhile, final preparations are underway for the Chamber of Trade’s switch-on of Burnham’s Christmas lights this Saturday (November 23rd) by BBC Somerset’s Emma Britton and Burnham’s BMX world champion Liam Phillips, as previewed here.
