Burnham firefighters to join fresh round of strikes this week

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters are set to join another round of strikes this Friday and Saturday.

As part of an ongoing national dispute with the Government over pensions, the Fire Brigades’ Union (FBU) has announced two four-hour walkouts between 6-10pm on both days.

During the strike a skeleton service will operate across the area covered by Devon and Somerset Fire Service.

Fire cover will mostly be provided by crew members who are not part of the FBU. They will work alongside a small number of auxiliary firefighters who have received training to provide basic support.

Due to the reduced service, the service will prioritise calls to emergencies where there is a risk to life.
