Fox recovering after hotel roof rescue by Burnham wildlife carers

-

This lucky fox is recovering well after being rescued from the roof of a hotel by wildlife carers from the Burnham-On-Sea area this week.

The animal was spotted in a confused state wandering around the roof of the Webbington Hotel where it had become stuck.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue’s team were called to the scene and the fox, which has been nick-named Webby, was successfully brought to safety by charity founder Pauline Kidner and her son Simon who managed to gain access to the roof via a door on the second floor.

Simon told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Webby was in a confused state and it was thought that he might have fallen onto the roof from a tree or while scrambling on the steep sloping ground behind the hotel.”

“The fox was examined and found to be suffering from trauma, having sustained some puncture wounds but luckily he is now well on the way to recovery and should soon be released back into the wild.”

Secret World will be holding its annual Badger Bonanza Open Weekend at its base in New Road, East Huntspill from 10am until 4pm on Good Friday (March 29th) through until 4pm on Easter Monday. Admission will be free, however donations on the door towards the charity’s work will be appreciated.
