Plans for eight new homes in Burnham-On-Sea approved by council

Controversial plans to build eight new homes in Burnham-On-Sea were last night (Wednesday) given a 'green light' by town councillors.

The council's Planning Applications Commmittee reviewed the proposals from Coln Residential Limited to demolish a bungalow in Golf Links Road and build eight homes in its place on the 3,325 square metres of land.

Objections raised by nearby residents in recent weeks focus on flooding concerns, a loss of privacy, extra noise and pollution, and increased traffic levels.

Planners previously gave outline planning permission for nine homes at the site in November 2012, despite objections from residents, as we reported here.

The new application for full planning permission covers the construction of six three-bed homes and two larger homes with four or more bedrooms. There is also provision for 20 car parking spaces.

Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton, who sits on the Town Council's committee, said: "The committee reviewed the latest plans and decided not to object. That recommendation will be passed to Sedgemoor."

Sedgemoor District Council's planning department is still accepting comments on the application - number 11/13/00126 - until December 27th and a final decision is expected early in the New Year.
