Burnham Mayor hits out at ‘mindless vandals’ over graffiti

-

Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor has this week hit out at vandals who daubed graffiti over an official new town sign.

A ‘tag’ was scrawled in white paint over the brand new sign at Isleport, as pictured here.

The Town Council has acted swiftly to remove the paint after Mayor Ken Smout expressed his disappointment.

“It is so sad that someone would do this when so people in our community are working together to try and bring about positive change,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Graffiti like this is mindless vandalism and is treated seriously.”

The Council has spent thousands of pounds in recent months introducing the new town signs, as we first reported here.

Anyone with information about the graffiti should call Burnham Police via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
