Crowds of visitors from across the UK are expected to visit East Huntspill this weekend when a popular annual Healing Weekend is held at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre.

Now in its fifth year, The Healing Weekend started on Friday and continues on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July.

The event will see dozens of exhibitors and workshops including therapists, healers, psychics, clairvoyants, arts and crafts, trade stands plus music, dance displays and children’s activities.

“Now in our fifth year, Ron and I are thrilled with how the event has grown and with around 180 stands, 90 workshops, talks, evening shows and daytime performances, it’s the event not to miss this year!” co-organiser Elaine Fenton told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “We have our usual array of fabulous food, free parking and great camping facilities.”

Children of all ages will also be able to attend The Enchanted Kingdom where they will be able to enjoy face painting, wand and wing making, children’s yoga, circus skills, games, bubble blowing, drumming, hooping and more plus visit Secret World’s cute guests.

The winners and runners up of the local musical talent competition will also be playing on the main stage during The Healing Weekend.

Elaine added: “To celebrate our success, and our 5th birthday, in partnership with Burnham-On-Sea.com, we created the opportunity for a local band/performer to have the chance to play to our audience on our main stage.”

Thom Quentin Leigh, from Bristol and currently studying at Plymouth University has been declared winner.

“Thom was the artist chosen as our winner and we want to say a huge congratulations to him and hope he has an amazing time at the event, and with his future career.”

The two runners-up will also be playing – Taylor Topham from Burnham and 9-year-old Gracie Wickens-Sweet from Brent Knoll.

“Taylor blew the judges away with his acoustic singing and Gracie melted their hearts with her outstanding voice,” added Elaine.

The event will be open from 10am to 6pm daily, with entrance costing £5 (under 14’s free) with Friday and Saturday shows from 7pm to 10.15pm, tickets £5 from the ticket office on the day. There is an additional charge for daytime workshops.
