Burnham-On-Sea’s beach was busy with dozens of sunbathers on Saturday (July 13th) as temperatures soared.

However, while the forecast was for particularly high temperatures, a cooling sea breeze kept thermometers below the year’s record.

The maximum recorded at the local weather station on Saturday was 27.7C, so the record for 2013 remains at 29.4C set on 8 July.

The highest temperature in recent years was set in July 2009 with a record of 30.8C.
