More than 100 members and supporters of Burnham-On-Sea's Hillview Carnival Club attended the group's annual presentation night on Saturday (March 2nd).

Burnham's Mayor Ken Smout joined Hillview Chairman Mark Bishop in handing out dozens of awards and certificates to members in recognition of their work during a ceremony held in Highbridge Social Club.

Mark praised the club's members for their "huge support and dedication" and he also thanked the club's supporters and sponsors over the past year.

Trophies were presented to Lottie Nicholson for most promising member, Sophie Butt for best girl, Joe Lawrence for best boy, Ryan Mears for best newcomer, Sophie Butt for best all-rounder, and Lottie Nicholson for most improved. The Chairman's Choice trophy went to Sophie Butt with Amy Fisher the runner-up.

During the evening, the club handed over a cheque for £425 to Cancer Research after a successful collection during the club's annual Christmas charity float collection last December.

Cllr Smout also presented Hillview with a Mayor's Community Award in recognition of its work within the community, as pictured below.
