This week’s stormy sea conditions have damaged the surface of Burnham-On-Sea’s jetty.

Strong winds, combined with high autumn tides, sent large waves onto the structure, as featured here.

On Friday, beach wardens found that part of the tarmac surface had been damaged and washed away from the lower area of the jetty, as pictured above.

Sedgemoor District Council, which maintains the structure, is investigating. The jetty needed £80,000 of repairs several years ago when the surface was severely damaged following storms in 2007.
