The National Trust has this week warned visitors to Brean Down to take extra care around cliff edges after recent wet weather caused a landslip and has raised the risk of further rockfalls.

An area of earth and rocks has fallen on the south side of the Down next to an area used by rock climbers, as pictured here earlier this week.

Allan King from the National Trust told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We would advise walkers to take extra care around the cliff edges.”

“The recent wet weather has weakened the earth and rocks and there is a risk of further movement.”

Last week, a landslide and rockfall warning was issued for the region by the British Geological Survey.

It raised concerns about the stability of cliffs following recent heavy rain and urged extra caution around cliff edges.
