Over 50 Burnham shops to open late for Christmas shopping evening

Over 50 shops across Burnham-On-Sea will be opening late when a special Christmas shopping evening is held this Thursday (December 5th) alongside festive entertainment.

Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade has organised the initiative to give shoppers an opportunity to visit the town’s shops and help independent traders.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy festive music from local groups Curtain Call and the Mudlarks Community Choir in Victoria Street and the High Street during the evening.

Father Christmas will also be dropping by, courtesy of Burnham Lions, with gifts and there will also be mulled wine and other festive treats.

Shops taking part in the evening include Bessie’s Sweet Shoppe; Flowers n Things; Sentiments; Bastins; Truckles; MI Games; Peacocks; S&A Linens; Material Needs; Julian’s; Home Hardware; New Look; Hurley’s Toys; Hurley’s News; Aniqa; Superdrug; Inspirations; Sweet Shack; £1 shop; Fonehouse; Antony James; Caboodle; Indoor Market; Heape’s; Sea Breeze; Scott’s; KDS Interiors; Grandma’s Attic; Burnham Mobility; Kyffins; Burnham Stationers; Toycupboard; Brooks & Son; AOB; With Love; IM Tools; and Stitch Up. The shops will open until 8pm.

Cafes open late will include Mr Beans; Costa; Crafty Teacup; Coffee Corner; Subway; and FryDays.

Other services open late include Waves & Shades; Saxons; Blackrock Vets; Fresh Hair; C J Hole; N Hance; Belle Vie Beauty; Hair of the Dog; Bet Fred; Specsavers.

And businesses open late as usual will include Taste of the Orient; Chandni; Superchips; Somerset & Dorset; The Railway; Victoria Hotel; Shah; Zalshah; La Vela; and The Reed’s Arms.

A Chamber spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We hope that traders and local people will support the evening and give Burnham a boost during the busy Christmas shopping period.”

“We are keen to encourage shoppers into the town centre during the run-up to Christmas and this special event will bring a real festive feel to Burnham.”

Traders can still sign up to join the event by contacting Burnham’s Chamber of Trade by email here so they can be promoted on the night.
