Burnham and Highbridge join National Libraries Day celebrations

Libraries in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge marked National Libraries Day with a day of fun-filled activities on Saturday (February 9th).

Burnham and Highbridge Libraries encouraged children to take part in book-themed activities, which also included a bear hunt.

Somerset County Council's staff were also on hand to explain how easy it is to become a library member and gain access to a wide range of services.

A unique 3D printer also went on show at Burnham Library by local enthusiast Russell Dicken, drawing plenty of interest.

National Libraries Day was a culmination of a week’s worth of celebrations in school, college, university, workplace and public libraries across the UK.

A spokesman told "We were really pleased with the support shown at our libraries in Burnham and Highbridge. The event was well supported by local people and both libraries were much busier than on a normal Saturday."
