Abseiling workman carries out repairs 30ft up Burnham’s lighthouse

-

You certainly need a head for heights to do this job, carrying out maintenance work on this familiar Burnham-On-Sea landmark.

An abseiling workman attached to climbing ropes has begun carrying out maintenance of the stone work of Burnham’s 33 metre tall lighthouse this week, as pictured here.

The brick-built tower in Berrow Road is being given a makeover by its owner during the current spell of calm summer weather.

Nearby residents have been watching the daring worker negotiating his way up and down the building with buckets, tools and equipment attached.

The lighthouse been inactive since 1993 and provides holiday accommodation to tourists.
