Young dancers from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are celebrating this week after scooping a number of awards at the Taunton Dance Festival.

Members of Highbridge’s Lucy Gunter Dance Centre impressed the judges at the annual festival, held at the weekend.

The youngsters did particularly well in the senior cabaret group section where they were awarded first, second and third places.

The Highbridge centre’s members also won gold in the junior cabaret group section and secured the sought-after trophy for the highest mark achieved during the whole festival.

Principal Lucy Gunter told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am immensely proud of all of our students and our fantastic teaching team. We have seen some amazing achievements at this festival and during the year as a whole so far.”

Among those doing especially well was Riannon Love, pictured above, who won the modern solo 7-8yrs category, beating 14 other entries.

Others who did well included Olivia Moores, Daisy Orme, Sasha Moores, Alice Best, Felicity Berry and Ophelia Hazelton-Cavill.
