Two injured in M5 crash that closed motorway for two hours

-

Two people were cut free after a crash on the M5 between a lorry and two cars on Thursday morning (July 4th).

The accident, which occurred shortly before 10.30am, happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 22 for Burnham-On-Sea and junction 21 at Weston.

Two people were taken to hospital by ambulance after being freed by crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.

Long queues of traffic built up after the northbound carriageway was closed, as pictured here.

“The carriageway was closed for around two hours to allow the air ambulance to land and the emergency services to attend to the patients,” police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

An ambulance spokesman added that neither patient had suffered serious injuries.
