Dozens of people pulled on their walking boots to take part in a fundraising walk at Brean on Sunday.

The annual Memory Walk was held in aid of Alzheimer’s Society and was started by children’s TV star Sooty at Brean Leisure Park.

The walkers then set off on a route which took them over the sand dunes onto the beach and then to the top of Brean Down and back.

A shorter half mile wheelchair route around Brean Leisure Park was also available. On return to Brean Leisure Park, everyone enjoyed well-deserved free refreshments at the Brean Tavern.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walk, in partnership with Bupa Care Homes, is a series of fundraising walking events that take place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland every September, raising money to provide vital support to people living with dementia and help research to find a cure.

Organiser Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the event had been another success with the final amount raised being calculated.
