Over 200 set to join fundraising Memory Walk at Brean this Sunday

-

Over 200 people are expected to take part in a fundraising walk at Brean this weekend.

The annual Memory Walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society will be started by children’s TV star Sooty this Sunday (22nd September).

The walkers will gather at 2pm outside the entrance to The Tavern at Brean Leisure Park before striding to Brean Down and back.

Organiser Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our route will take us on a short, sandy footpath from Brean Leisure Park over the sand dunes to the beach. We will then turn right and walk along the sand to Brean Cove.”

“We will trek up the steps to the top of Brean Down then turn left and follow the National trust footpath enjoying the fabulous views on the walk to Brean Fort before returning via the same route.”

A shorter half mile wheelchair route around Brean Leisure Park is also available. On return to Brean Leisure Park, everyone will enjoy well deserved free refreshments at the Brean Tavern.

Registration time is from 1pm with the walk starting at 2pm. All are welcome.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walk, in partnership with Bupa Care Homes, is a series of fundraising walking events that take place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland every September, raising money to provide vital support to people living with dementia and help research to find a cure.
