Glastonbury boss says 'unspoilt' Burnham-On-Sea is his favourite place

Glastonbury Festival boss Michael Eavis has named Burnham-On-Sea his favourite place in Somerset and praised the town for being 'laid back and unspoilt.'

In an article in The Guardian newspaper's travel section on Saturday, he said he frequently visits Burnham.

Michael, pictured on the town's beach four years ago, said: "For me this place is about the whole history of coming here as a kid, on the train with Sunday school: sandcastle competitions on the beach, saying grace before we ate our jam tarts."

"And later I did all my courting in Burnham. It's a very humble place. There's no razzmatazz."

"It's laid-back and unspoilt – which is why I still love it. I come back every couple of weeks to walk the dogs out to the lighthouse."

Mr Eavis has featured on several times in recent years for his visits to the town. In 2008, he was the VIP guest that turned on Burnham's Christmas lights, as we featured here.

And in 2011, he opened the community-run tourist information centre on The Esplanade, as featured here.
