Burnham-On-Sea entrepreneur wins innovation of the year award

-

An entrepreneur from Burnham-On-Sea is celebrating this week after winning an innovation award.

Mike Turner, 21, has created Staff Guardian, a Web-based system which uses satellite tracking to monitor staff when they are working off-site, and provide them with an SOS button if they get into trouble.

The service – which Burnham-On-Sea.com featured here last year – was named Innovation Of The Year at the North Somerset Business Leader Awards this week.

Over 100 businesses and individuals entered the awards, with three companies shortlisted per category and judged by an expert panel of judges. Staff Guardian was the overall winner of innovation of the year.

Mike told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Winning Innovation of the Year demonstrates that Staff Guardian is a business that offers a truly innovative solution for lone workers.”

The evening was hosted by Polar explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who spoke about his life and the motives behind his determination to explore the most inhospitable parts of the planet.
