A police helicopter and a team of Coastguards launched a search for a missing person in Burnham-On-Sea last night (Thursday).

Several miles of coastline were scoured after the concerned family of a vulnerable 43 year-old lady reported her missing.

A Coastguard spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We took a call from the police just before 8pm requesting help in the search for a missing lady where there was some concern for her welfare.”

“Coastguards from Burnham were tasked and they assisted the police by searching the beaches at Burnham, Berrow and Brean.”

The Coastguards conducted a torch-lit foot search while the police helicopter used its thermal imaging equipment overhead.

After almost three hours of searching, the Coastguards were stood down and the incident was left in the hands of the police. The lady remains missing today (Friday) .
