Burnham-On-Sea fundraisers stride out for RNLI as part of challenge

-

Two fundraisers from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge strapped on their walking boots to complete the second of their year of fitness challenges on Sunday (February 24th).

Nicola Noad and Tamara Ellis made a new year’s resolution to get healthy and have in turn come up with their very own project called Challenge 12.

Nicola, from Sparks Way in Highbridge and Tamara, from Highbridge Road in Burnham, have decided to take on 12 challenges in 12 months, to help 12 charities and raise their target of £1,200.

On Sunday they completed a walk from Burnham-On-Sea to Brean along the beach in aid of the national RNLI lifeboat charity and were supported by a crowd of fellow walkers, as pictured.

They will also be raising money for Weston Hospicecare, Secret World Wildlife Rescue centre in East Huntspill, the RNLI, Weston’s Freewheelers and Children’s Hospice South West. Other groups benefiting will be Save the Children, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Cancer UK, Meningitis UK, Sport Relief, Alice Escapes and a charity which is currently being set up called Bottle Stop.

Nicola said: “While trying to get fit we wanted something to keep us motivated and have something to aim for. The challenges are relatively small ones, but still quite challenging for us. We hope as our fitness improves this year, next year we shall continue this project and our challenges will get bigger and better.”
