Highbridge nursery temporarily closes after Ofsted inspection

-

A nursery in Highbridge has been unexpectedly closed this week after an Ofsted inspection raised safety concerns.

The nursery at Highbridge Children’s Centre in Coronation Road has been temporarily shut by Somerset County Council, which runs the facilities.

A spokesman for Somerset County Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We apologise to everyone affected by the closure but the children’s safety is of paramount importance.”

“The County Council has been monitoring the situation closely since a recent Ofsted inspection and it was felt it would not be in the best interests of the children to attend the nursery this week.”

“Urgent action needed to be taken and we are doing everything we can to improve the situation.”

He added that anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact the Somerset Direct service on 0845 3459122.

The nursery is scheduled to re-open again next week while the Children’s Centre itself still remains open as per normal.
