Highbridge nursery set to re-open tomorrow after Ofsted closure

-

A Highbridge nursery which unexpectedly closed last week after an Ofsted inspection’s safety concerns is set to re-open on Wednesday (October 30th).

The nursery at Highbridge Children’s Centre in Coronation Road has been temporarily shut for the past week by Somerset County Council, as first reported here.

A spokesman for Somerset County Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the nursery will be re-opening on Wednesday after addressing the safety concerns.

“We apologise to everyone affected by the closure but the children’s safety is of paramount importance.”

“The County Council has been monitoring the situation closely since a recent Ofsted inspection and it was felt it would not be in the best interests of the children to attend the nursery.”

“Urgent action needed to be taken and we are doing everything we can to improve the situation.”

He added that anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact the Somerset Direct service on 0845 3459122.

The Children’s Centre itself was unaffected by the inspection and has remained open as normal.
