Three Burnham-On-Sea youngsters raised £520 for the Philippines typhoon disaster fund by completing a sponsored cycle ride on Saturday (November 30th).

James Biddiscombe, 12, Oliver Davies, 13, and Chris Wood, 15, raised the money through sponsorship by cycling from Highbridge to the village of Mark.

They left St John’s Church in Highbridge at 1pm and called in at East Huntspill and West Huntspill on their way to Mark Church, supported by their families.

The three were met by cheering supporters as they cycled up to Mark Church on Saturday afternoon.

They thanked all those who have sponsored them, including Burnham’s Clarence Hotel which generously pledged £100.

You can still sponsor the boys by donating via their Just Giving page here. The funds raised will go to the official Disasters Emergency Committee.

“We wanted to do this because we feel very sad about the plight of people in the Philippines and this is the least we could do,” they told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
