Police investigate serious sexual assault in Burnham-On-Sea

Police have appealed for information as they investigate an alleged serious sexual assault in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea this week.

The incident is believed to have occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning (July 14th) in an alleyway in Pier Street.

The pathway next to the Toycupboard newsagents was sealed off by police officers throughout Sunday afternoon and Monday, as pictured here.

Forensic teams from the police’s scientific investigations team were at the scene during Monday gathering evidence.

Police spokeswoman Claire Stanley confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “At around 12.20pm on Sunday we recieved a report of a serious sexual assault in Pier Street. Investigations are ongoing and a crime scene has been established.”

Police have appealed for anyone with information that could help the investigation to contact them to contact police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
