Dozens of people attended a pirate-themed family fun day in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (July 27th).

The family event was held at Marine Cove and on the town’s beach next to The Pavillion.

A fancy dress competition for the best dressed pirates was well supported with plenty of colourful costumes – and there were also pirate-themed games, fun workshops for children, face painting, ‘Mo the Bubble Man’ and to keep everyone entertained.

“It was a great day – there was plenty of support for the Pirate School, Treasure Hunt and our beach activities which proved a lot of fun,” one of the organisers, Ian Jefferies, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Burnham’s Mayor, Martin Cox, and Sedgemoor District Council Chairman Peter Downing dropped in during the day to give their support to the free event.

The event’s sponsors and supporters included Burnham Lions, BIARS, Burnham Dreamscheme, the Friends of Marine Cove, The Sweet Shack, The Pavilion and Bessie’s Sweet Shoppe.
