Council starts £113k play area modernisation project in Burnham area

-

A major £113,000 investment project to modernise play parks across Sedgemoor is to benefit children in the Burnham-On-Sea area.

Outdated equipment at East Brent’s play park in Red House Road, pictured above, is to be removed and replaced by £25,254 of modern play equipment by mid-December.

And other parks earmarked for improvement including Highbridge’s Talbot Close, Stilings Close and Coleridge Gardens.

Over the past year, Sedgemoor District Council has also installed new play equipment on Rosewood Green in Burnham-On-Sea and on Brent Knoll Village Green.

The work is being made possible by RLT2 contributions that Sedgemoor has collected from developers who had built new homes within the respective parishes.

Councillor John Swayne, Portfolio Holder for Community and Scrutiny, said: “Sedgemoor District Council is committed to investing in play areas and sees this as phase one of an on-going project to improve the play facilities in our local parks.”
