Police issued an appeal for witnesses on Tuesday (November 12th) after a Highbridge schoolgirl was left shaken when she was followed by a man.

Police say the incident occurred near the alleyway that runs between the Pepperall Road roundabout and Worston Lane between 3-3.30pm.

“The 11-year-old girl says she felt uncomfortable because she felt the male had followed her into the alleyway,” said Burnham Police Community Beat Manager PC Esther Lawson.

“He is described as white, 35-45yrs, 5”7, stockier than average build, with dark brown facial stubble wearing a baseball cap of mixed colours, a black hoodie type jumper with pull cords at the front and standard colour blue denim jeans.”

“We would ask anyone to come forward if they match this description in order for us to eliminate any suspicious activity and appeal to any witnesses that may have also seen this male acting suspiciously or making anyone else feel uncomfortable.”

Burnham-On-Sea Police can be contacted on the non-emergency telephone number 101.

The incident comes a week after a 24 year-old man was arrested for approaching several children in the same area, as Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here.
