Poppy Appeal dance and exhibition to be held in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Two special fundraising events are to be held in Burnham-On-Sea to support the town’s Poppy Appeal.

A ‘Pop-up Gallery’ is to be held on the corner of Pier Street and The High Street by Larkins to launch the Poppy Appeal on 26th October.

The gallery will showcase Paul Scator’s collection of 1940’s and 50’s advertising posters.

“It’s a very evocative collection depicting the products of the era and makes for an interesting browse,” organiser Gaynor Brown told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

A Poppy Dance is also due to take place at The Ritz Social Club starting at 7pm on Saturday 2nd November.

“The venue is perfect for this 1940 style dance which will feature a group called ‘Hoppin Mad’ who will not only perform the dances but also give some tuition,” added Gaynor. “Come along and have fun stepping back in time whilst contributing to the British Legion Poppy Appeal collection.”

Tickets are priced £10 per person from The Tourist Information Centre, The Ritz and Bessie’s Sweet Shop in Burnham High Street.

Volunteers are still needed, particularly for evening visits to collect at venues in Brean, Berrow and Burnham. Call Gaynor on 01278 238714.
