1940s-themed dance in Burnham raises funds for Poppy Appeal

-

Supporters of Burnham-On-Sea’s Royal British Legion held a 1940s-themed dance in aid of the Poppy Appeal on Saturday evening (November 2nd).

The event took place at The Ritz Social Club in Victoria Street, with all funds raised going to The Royal British Legion.

“The evening gave visitors a chance to learn the dances of the 40’s while having a bit of fun and raising money for a good cause,” organiser Gaynor Brown told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Poppy sellers have begun collecting in supermarkets across the town in the run-up to Burnham’s annual Remembrance Day commemorations on Sunday November 10th.

A ‘Pop-up Gallery’ is also to be held outside the legion’s Victoria Street HQ next Saturday, November 9th. The gallery will showcase a collection of 1940’s and 50’s advertising posters.

The Poppy Appeal raises funds for The Royal British Legion, the nation’s leading Armed Forces charity providing care and support to all members of the British forces community.
