lifeboats tow broken-down powerboat to safety
lifeboats were called to rescue a broken-down powerboat on Sunday
morning (August 25th).
town's two lifeboats were preparing to return to their station
following a training session when they were tasked with helping
the owner of the vessel.
Operations Manager Ricky Holmes had spotted a motorboat towing
in a broken-down powerboat and tasked the lifeboats to see if
they could help.
Chandler, the owner of the motorboat, a 28ft ex-ship lifeboat,
gratefully accepted the help and the powerboat was taken under
tow by the lifeboats.
had already towed the powerboat from Combwich, and said he was
relieved to hand her over so that he could get back to his moorings.
said: "I would like to thank Dave Chandler for his assistance.
This is the second time this week that the lifeboats have been
called out while on training - the first being on Wednesday evening
to check on some children in the water. This shows how busy our
volunteers can be and the variety of tasks they are called to."
