Escaped prisoner travelled through Highbridge on train, believe police

-

A prisoner on the run may have travelled on a train through Highbridge on Sunday morning, police have said this week as they appealed for the public’s help in finding him.

Wayne Richard Head, 35, was last seen in Leyhill Prison at 5.30am last Saturday morning and was reported missing a few hours later.

He is serving an indeterminate sentence for a robbery that he was found guilty of committing in 2007.

“It was believed he may try and return to the Plymouth area as he has connections there and we have now been able to confim this is the case,” said a police spokesman.

“He caught the 9.48am train from Bristol Temple Meads to Plymouth on Sunday morning so we are now focusing our enquiries in that area.”

Head, pictured here on the right, is described as a white man who is around 5’11” tall.

He has a medium build and also has brown, shaved hair.

Officers have asked anyone who has seen him since he went missing to contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101.
