Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat crewmembers join flood relief efforts

Lifeboat volunteers from Burnham-On-Sea are among a group of RNLI crewmembers who have joined flood relief efforts in Essex following yesterday's storms.

The south west regional flood rescue team is helping those affected after a storm surge left some coastal areas on the eastwern side of the country under water.

"Volunteer crewmembers from across the south west were last night deployed to Essex as part of the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team," confirmed spokeswoman Tamsin Thomas.

"The team includes crew volunteers from several lifeboat stations including St Agnes, Looe, Appledore, Dart, Exmouth, Weymouth, Swanage and Burnham-On-Sea."

A number of RNLI staff from the south west have also joined the efforts as part of the team that left from two locations – the RNLI regional base at Saltash in Cornwall and the RNLI headquarters in Poole.
