Tributes have been paid to a 24 year-old former Burnham-On-Sea resident who has died after being stabbed in Bristol.

Robert Cox was attacked at an address in Egerton Road, Bishopston on Friday evening.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokeswoman said he was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

Robert lived with his family in Highbridge Road, Burnham for several years and attended Brent Knoll Primary School and Burnham’s St Joseph’s Primary School.

He was also a pupil at Highbridge’s King Alfred School and studied at Bridgwater College before moving to Bristol.

One Burnham friend, Jess Wharton, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Rob was a very kind, fun guy and was always very happy. It’s an absolute shock and such a shame.”

Another friend, Kirsty Louise Hembery, added: “We shared some fun times. He was always a good laugh and fun to be around. He was shy until he got to know you, but after that would be more relaxed.”

A 41-year-old Bristol man has been arrested and charged with murder. He appeared before Bristol Magistrates on Monday and his case was moved to Bristol Crown Court, where the next hearing will be held today (Wednesday). He will appear again on September 4th for a preliminary hearing before a plea and case management hearing on November 18th.
