Christmas celebrations at three schools in the Burnham-On-Sea area have been given a ‘tree-mendous boost’ with donations from a local garden centre.

Brent Knoll’s Sanders Garden World has delivered free Christmas trees to Brent Knoll, Lympsham and East Brent Schools.

It comes after primary schools in the area were invited to design a winter collage to win the chance to accompany Santa on his arrival at the garden centre.

The entry by Highbridge’s Churchfield School attracted the most votes from the public and the pupils enjoyed breakfast with Santa and also had fun in a giant snow globe as part of their prize.

There were four runners up including Brent Knoll and Lympsham Schools, both of whom received free Christmas trees. East Brent School’s pupils wrote several super letters appealing for a tree, which was also successful.

Garden centre Manager Phil Tyzack said: “We were very impressed with the entries by all the schools, so we decided to donate a real Christmas tree to each of the runners up and also provided each participating class with free tickets to our circus which is running over the Christmas period.”
