Scarecrows of all shapes and sizes descended on Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (July 6th) when the town’s first Scarecrow Festival was held.

Over a dozen of the colourful straw-filled creations were set up in the town’s Marine Cove gardens on the seafront.

The event, organised by members of the Friends of Marine Cove, was opened by Sedgemoor District Council Chairman Cllr Peter Downing and Cllr Mike Mansfield, Burnham’s Second Deputy Mayor.

Among the fun designs were mermaids, children and even a Coastguard!

“The event was a great success with lots of effort put into the designs. We thank everyone who took part and I am sure we will be holding another festival in the future,” a spokesman for the Friends of Marine Cove told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
