Burnham police seek witnesses after mobility scooter is damaged

-

Police have appealed for witnesses after a disabled pensioner in Burnham-On-Sea was left ‘traumatised’ when a thief wielding a baseball bat stole her mobility scooter and damaged it.

The intruder took the electric scooter from outside her flat in Chichester Close early last Saturday morning and then dumped it in an alleyway nearby, damaged it and left a baseball bat on the basket.

The scooter’s owner, Dae Morris, 65, who has cerebral palsy and severe arthritis, said the Shoprider electric scooter had been left charging outside when it was taken and that the incident has left her traumatised.

Burnham Police are investigating the theft and have urged anyone with information to call them via the non-emergency number 101.

A police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The scooter was found dumped in an alleyway in Rosewood Close and had been damaged.”
